A Letter From Lauren: The Quiet Work of Winter

A Letter From Lauren: The Quiet Work of Winter

The muffled crunch of snow underfoot and the early hush of a late-afternoon sky set the stage for February's quieter kind of momentum. The rush of the new year has settled, routines feel more grounded, and winter invites us to slow just enough to notice what’s working.

For this newsletter, I wanted to share a few simple joys. Small comforts at home, rewarding transactions, and the little things that have made these winter weeks feel steady and grounding as 2026 unfolds.

As we move through February, I’m grateful for the trust, conversations, and stories I get to be part of. Wishing you a month filled with warmth, clarity, and continued winter magic.

Making the Puzzle Pieces Fit

51 Pleasant Street, Yarmouth, ME
One of my most rewarding experiences this year was helping a client transition from a home that had sat unsold last year into her new home on Falmouth Foreside—at a fantastic price. Marketing 51 Pleasant Street in Yarmouth and coordinating the purchase of 57 Foreside Road in Falmouth required creativity, careful timeline orchestration, and problem-solving. By negotiating a leaseback, she closed on both homes, enjoyed one final holiday season in her former home, and then transitioned with more ease into the new one after holiday mayhem.

When every piece falls into place, it's deeply rewarding—a reminder of what's possible with the right strategy and partnership. Is there a puzzle piece missing from your real estate story? I'd love to help you find it.

And the Final Piece Completed

26 Thomas Street, Portland, ME

This January marked the closing of the final residence at the Williston West on Portland’s Western Promenade, completing my and Tom Gadbois's record-breaking sale of all 7 units introduced together in September. The boutique development was previously marketed by another brokerage but did not achieve any sales. The John Calvin Stevens High Victorian Gothic former parish house, originally built in 1905, offered buyers the rare opportunity to own a piece of architectural history.

The response was immediate and remarkable, with 6 out of the 7 units going under contract within the first week. The final home found it’s buyer during the holidays and closed as the new year began. Even in the quieter months, thoughtful pricing, and careful presentation continue to move homes forward.

Snow Day!

As a kid, a snow day felt like an unexpected holiday. I stayed home from school, played outside until my gloves were soaked through, drank a big cup of hot chocolate that was waiting for me inside, and lounged around watching movies. It was simple and carefree, and the kind of day every kid looks forward to.

Now, as a mom, snow days carry a different kind of responsibility and a different kind of magic. Rather than being on the receiving end, I am not responsible for creating that magic and core memories for my own kids. This month, we did some sledding with Nana, built snowmen, and added colored dye to the snow. It’s less about perfect plans and more about being present, something I actively try to channel amidst the demands of my career. Years from now, I want my kids remember the same warmth of coming back inside after a fun day spent in the snow.

My New Obsession :)

I’m officially hooked on a product that a new friend is developing. Two months ago, my brother-in-law shared with me while we were in our family home in Wiscasset for a few days. By the second day, my husband and I ordered 7 bags (which have all been consumed & well into my order of 8 more).

E+Patrol is a protein- and superfood-packed powder designed to be “the healthiest meal you’ve ever had in 30 seconds.” You literally just blend it with ice and water. It feels like a full, healthy, refreshing meal without fillers, which is genuinely appreciated by busy parents.

The coffee flavor is my favorite(!!). And no, I’m not sharing this just because of a family connection—I’m truly obsessed and grateful.
